In diffuser assembly for wastewater aeration tank, air is supplied from blower to diffusers via vertical downpipe to a distributing pipe which can travel up and down the downpipe. The downpipe and distributing pipe form one unit and there is an isolating valve to prevent water entering the diffusers.
