The appts. to feed a number of fabric workpieces, of variable thicknesses, has a frame (2) to support the stacked materials with an opening so that the bottom workpiece is partially free. At least one roller (8,8') is at the opening, to come into contact with the bottom workpiece in the stack. The rollers (8,8') are operated by a drive (7,11,13) to rotate them, loosen the bottom fabric workpiece, and form a gap between the bottom fabric layer and the remainder of the stack. The fabric removal system has a drive (16) to move a rod (16a) into the gap between the bottom fabric workpiece and the remainder of the stack, and a further drive (14) to move the rod (16a) to draw the bottom fabric layer downwards. ADVANTAGE - The appts. gives a stable feed of fabric workpieces with different thicknesses, in a compact configuration which is produced at an economic cost.
