The shadow-mask (20) is raised and lowered through a given distance by a hoist (34) when the frame (10) is held in the correct position w.r.t. the mask support (33), and the edge (21) of the mask (20) inserted into it. With the mask raised, several pressure plates (32) on reciprocating rods (35) are brought to bear on the edge (21). The top inner sections of the plates (32) may incorporate recesses (31) for the purpose of holding the frame (10). USE/ADVANTAGE - In shadow-mask colour picture tube mfr. Simple structure makes effective bond between mask and its frame.
