<p>A process is described for separating mixtures of proteins and deoxyribonucleic acids (DNA). The process utilises immobilised polyamines such as polyethyleneimine with which a protein containing DNA solution can be mixed in the presence of an inert inorganic salt, optionally in the presence of a zwitterionic buffer. Under these conditions, protein may be subsequently recovered from the immobilised polyamine to contain less than 1pg DNA per milligram of protein. The process is particularly useful for removing DNA from antibodies.</p> |
