Prodn. of a cleaning blade for electrophotography, during mixing of a urethane prepolymer, obtd. from a polyol of mol. wt. 1000-3000 and a polyisocyanate, with an isocyanate gp. content of 5-8%, or after mixing with a curing component comprises an effective amt. of an imidazole curing catalyst of formula (I). In (I) R = H, methyl or ethyl, and a polyol with a low mol. wt. of 60-150 in a ratio of isocyanate gps:hydroxyl gps. of 1.0-1.2, the mixt. is cast in the heated form. Curing catalyst is pref. used at 0.01-0.5 pts. wt., based on 100 pts. wt. of the base resin, and the curing component is used at 5-10 pts. wt. based on 100 pts. wt. of the base resin. Curing component pref. also contains a polyol of high mol. wt. of 1000-3000 giving the same ratio of isocyanate gps. to hydroxyl gps. where the low mol. wt. polyol is used at 10-20 wt.% and the high mol. wt. polyol is used at 90-80 wt.%. USE/ADVANTAGE - Useful as a cleaning blade for electrophotography obtd. by mass prodn. Abrasion resistance of the blade is enhanced. (7pp Dwg.No.0/0)
