The machine is used for wrapping large square bales (8) with stretch-foil (5, 9a). It incorporates a conveyor (1, 13, 15) after which, in the direction of travel, are a setting-up unit (a), a winder-unit (b), and a discharge unit (c). The setting-up unit (a) has a first feeder (4) for a bottom sheet of covering (5) on a level with the conveyor plane, and a second feeder (3) for a top sheet of covering (5). The winder unit (b) has appliances for placing the edges of the covering sheets (12, 14) round the bales (80) before it is wrapped round in the stretch foil (9a). USE/ADVANTAGE - Bales, such as of straw and hay, are tightly wrapped round so as to be totally sealed for silage making.
