The pair of drawing compasses has a toothed segment (1) attached to the upper end of each leg (8). The toothed segment has a rectangular recess (5) formed on each main face (3a). These recesses extend from the lower edge of the segment and are separated from each other by a wall (6). Each leg (8) has a slot (9) cut in its end face. The width of this slot is a close fit over the wall (6) between the recesses (5) of the toothed segment. The width of the recesses (5) is a close fit over the width of the leg (8). USE/ADVANTAGE - A ridid joint is formed between each segment and the corresponding leg.
