The method involves mixing the moist waste with a combustible material and then compression. The combustible material takes up the moisture in the waste and has a particle size not greater than that of the waste. The material has a moisture content of c.5%. The combustible material may be obtained from domestic or commericial waste (largely e.g. paper) or from agriculture (plant waste). The material may be broken down before mixing. Sludge may be added, and also lime, caustic soda, etc.
