The thread-forming screw (1) has a coating of adhesive (5) covering at least part of the surface (2) of the thread. The adhesive coating (5) is applied in strips axially parallel to the threaded part (2). The screw (1) has a non-round cross-section, e.g. trilobular, polygonal or of even thickness. USE/ADVANTAGE - The screw is inserted into a pre-bored, moulded or punched-out hole in a workpiece, and does not work loose.
