<p>The invention relates to a device for the external protection of a data processing system against electrical outages. Said device, intended to be arranged between the AC supply network and the data processing system, has a DC output (9) through which the central processing unit or units of the data processing system are supplied and an AC output (9) through which the screen or screens are supplied. In the case of an outage, a capacitor (17) restores the energy stored and extends the normal supply current present at the output (9) during a transition period. During said period, a control unit (28) detects the fault and operates an inverter (19) supplied by a battery (20) which serves as a substitute for the network. The device of the invention may be implemented using very simple electronic means since it does not require a high detection and switching speed, does not provide for AC voltage switching and does not require means for synchronisation between substituted voltage and initial voltage.</p> |
