The prodn. of electrical energy from photocells utilises a technique of constructing lens-like optical elements (18), e.g. holograms, concentrating light on to the surface of small photocells (19). The optical elements are constructed in sectors to form a ring (18), which refracts incident light into a transparent medium (10), e.g. glass. The light may be deflected on to the rear of the photocell through total internal reflection and be augmented by light falling directly on the cell. ADVANTAGE - Efficient conversion through light concentration. Simple, economic prodn. |
