<p>A split phase cam-controlled weight lifting exercice machine (10) employs two independently selectable weight stacks (40, 41) connected by cable and pulley assemblies to a respective phase of the cam. Exercice arms (81) are pivotally mounted for pivotal movement of the cams (63, 64, 72, 74) to which are connected the cables (50, 51) in a manner to provide for a different moment arm for one loaded weight than for the other during a part of the exercise. The weight loading is selected by a pin (45) that fits through the weights (20) and a guide rod (33, 34) mounted so as to not contact the weights (20) and cause friction that degrades the benefits of the split cam operation. The guide rod (33, 34) is mounted on bearings (30) that limit movement to the vertical direction. The weights (20) include integral interlocks (47, 47') to align them vertically in a stack (40, 41).</p> |
