The door locking system uses a sensor (12) responsive to applied finger pressure to allow the identity of the operator to be verified by comparing the finger pressure signal with a stored value corresp. to the finger pressure of a known individual. The door locking and unlocking circuit is only activated when the operator is correctly identified. Pref. the sensor (12) uses a CCD semiconductor element. ADVANTAGE - Simple, low-cost.
