PURPOSE:To realize the special effect processing such as simultaneous display of a moving picture and a still picture, fade-in to the moving picture and wiping by using a data for a non-display period of a moving picture memory and a still picture memory to apply calculation of each picture element and using a mask memory to select the display of the moving picture and the still picture. CONSTITUTION:A computing element 15 applies the arithmetic logical operation such as OR, AND, addition and subtraction to an arithmetic data read from a frame buffer 11, a mask data read from a mask plane 12 and a freeze data read from a video freeze buffer 14 for a moving picture display period. In this case, the mask pattern, an arithmetic data of bit map form and the type of calculation are varied optionally by the software. Then the display of the moving picture and the still picture onto a same screen is attained and the flexible special effect processing such as fade-in, fade-out and wiping of the moving picture is attained. |
