<p>Specific peptide derivatives that include a sequence of amino acids that are identical with a portion of the carboxyl-terminal portion of human cytochrome b558 inhibit of activity of the enzyme systems involved in the oxidative burst of human phagocytic cells. In preferred embodiments the peptides include a sequence of six and seven amino acid peptide sequences that are identical to a portion of the sequence of human cytochrome b558. The peptide derivatives may be used in medicaments for the treatment of inflammatory diseases.</p> |
