The invention provides an installation for feeding animals in which the warm water which is added to the dry feed in the trough has the required temperature from the very first drop and which the animals will not imbibe excessive amounts of water. This effect has been obtained by connecting the water nipple to the water main by means of a ring main equipped with a pump and a thermostatically controlled heating element in order to keep the water that is fed to the nipples at a pre-set higher temperature. To keep the water warm, the warm water is pumped continuously through the ring main. If the nipple is operated, the adjustable pressure in the inner pipe causes that immediately warm water will flow out the nipple. The not through the nipple drained warm water streams back to the reservoir (6) via the space between the concentrically placed inner pipe (7) and the outer pipe (5) because of the fact that the inner pipe (7) ends near the nipple (4) and is in open connection to the outer pipe (5). This pipe ends in a reservoir (6) equipped with a thermostat and a heating element. In this reservoir (6), or in a partly separated reservoir (12) is a provision (13, 15) to fill up automatically the water in the main ring. The invention can be used to serve many nipples. The implementation of the invention can be realized in any number of ways, and is not limited to the method given in the example.
