The gearchange system is for a passenger car having at least five forward gears. It has a drive input shaft, a drive output shaft and a pair of gears dedicated to each gear spaced, with in each case one gear arranged on the input shaft. Intermediate shafts (13 14) carry part of the gears not arranged on the input shaft and are connected with the output shaft (12) over a gear stage (29 35). USE/ADVANTAGE - Vehicle gear change mechanism of compact design is suitable for a car with a transverse engine and transmission.
