Catalyst compositions, which contain a Group VIII metal and a bisphosphine with the general formula (R<2>)2P-R<3>-P(R<2>)2 in which R<2> represents an aryl group containing at least one alkoxy substituent at the ortho position relative to the phosphorus atom to which the aryl group is linked and in which R<3> is a divalent bridge group containing just three carbon atoms in the bridge, of which the central carbon atom forms part of a -CHR<4>- group in which R<4> represents a monovalent substituent comprising carbon, hydrogen and optionally oxygen. They are suitable for the preparation of copolymers of carbon monoxide and olefinically unsaturated compounds. |
