LIQUID CRYSTAL CONTAINER AND PREPARATION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To obtain a liq. crystal resin container with improved resistance to gas permeability by injecting a molten mixt. of a thermoplastic resin and a liq. crystal resin in an injection mold for melt forming under a high shear condition and providing thereby molecular orientation to the liq. crystal resin in the thermoplastic resin matrix. CONSTITUTION:A container consists of a thermoplastic resin and a liq. crystal resin which is mainly molecular-oriented in a uniaxial direction in the thermoplastic resin matrix, which exists under an unoriented condition. The liq. crystal resin is mainly molecular-oriented in a uniaxial direction and improvement of resistance to gas permeability, especially decrease in oxygen permeability coefficient can be effectively performed. The thermoplastic resin is polyethylene terephthalate or polycarbonate and the liq. crystal resin is pref. liq. crystal polyester.
