PURPOSE: To enable control of the angular variation of the reinforcing cords of the belt layers extending from one end from the other end of the layer by fabricating a tread band on a reinforcing annular structure to form a cylindrical annular element and shaping the annular element according to the final toric configuration with a high transverse curvature. CONSTITUTION: A tread band 4, upon which the tread pattern has been molded, is positioned on the crown of the carcass, and a reinforcing annular structure 5 as belt is inserted between the tread band 4 and the carcass 1. An ancillary drum 11 is built up at first in annular configuration and subsequently for shaping the annular element in its final toric configuration, having the configuration substantially corresponding to that of the vulcanized tire. The shaped annular element is transported from the ancillary drum 11 to a main drum 10 so as to assemble the carcass to the annular element, through the expansion of the carcass against the corresponding inner surface of the annular element. |
