<p>PURPOSE:To simplify operating procedure according to the length of a tape for recording data on a host side by detecting the position of the specified length of the tape from the leader tape of the tape for recording data (EOT alarm). CONSTITUTION:When the tape 5 travels, arithmetic operation is performed based on the revolving speed of a reel 8 to detect that a specified position from the trailing edge of the tape is attained (EOT alarm). Namely, the revolving speed of the reel 8 is changed in accordance with the change of number of turns of the tape 5. By performing the arithmetic operation of the remaining length of the tape based on the information on the revolving speed of the reel 8 and the diameter thereof, the EOT alarm is issued at a position which is the specified length of the tape from the leader tape. Thus, the shortage of recording the data is prevented by obtaining information on the number of remaining frames, performing automatic formatting and informing a host computer 14 of the EOT alarm.</p> |
