PURPOSE:To facilitate manufacture of a bumper beam having closed sectional parts at proper positions by supporting cores of heat-fused or water-soluble material in cavities between upper and lower dies, injecting and hardening fused resin in the cavities, and fusing the cores to flow out. CONSTITUTION:A bumper beam 1 is composed of a lateraly long box of a base body 2 having a U-letter shaped sectional surface, an out-directed flange part 3 provided at edge parts of an aperture of the base body 2 and extended out-directed up, down, right and left, a plural pairs of parting members 4 for parting a space in the base body 2 laterally, and a backing member 5 for closing the back end part of a space S of an almost rectangular form enclosed by each parting member 4 and the base body 2. For manufacturing this, cores consisting of heat-fused or water-soluble material are supported in cavities between upper and lower dies closed to each other, fused resin is injected into the cavities, the dies are removed after it is hardened, and the cores are fused to flow out, so a desired bumber beam is obtained. |
