PURPOSE: To simplify a structure and to reduce cost by vertically moving a partition wall in relation to wheels through a spring according to the presence or absence of load in relation to a caster, bringing or separating respective hubs into contact with or from brake parts, and braking the wheels or releasing braking. CONSTITUTION: When load is not applied to furniture such as a chair to be supported by a caster, a partition wall 2 and a turning shaft 6 are lifted in relation to wheels 1 by a spring 9. Therefore, hubs 5 of the wheels 1 and wheel brake parts 11 are elastically pressed to obtain the braking effect. While, when load is applied to the caster after a person seats on the furniture such as a chair, the partition wall 2 is pressed down in relation to the wheels 1 against the spring 9. Therefore, elastic pressing of the hubs 5 and the wheel brake parts 11 is released, the braking effect is eliminated, and the wheels are freely rotated. Accordingly, a caster with an automatic brake device can be provided with a simple and inexpensive structure.
