An aqueous coating composition which contains at least one water-dispersible polyurethane resin containing air-drying groups and optionally further binder resins and conventional (paint) additives, characterised in that the polyurethane resin contains units derived from (A) polyisocyanates, (B) polyols containing air-drying groups, optionally (C) polyols containing no air-drying groups, (D) compounds containing at least two groups which are reactive towards isocyanate groups and containing at least one group which is capable of forming anions, (E) monoalcohols containing air-drying groups, and/or (F) compounds which are different from (B), (C), (D) and (E) and contain at least one group which is reactive with NCO groups. This coating composition has excellent pigment compatibility, and the coatings produced therefrom provide good corrosion protection and have good mechanical properties, even without addition of a siccative. |
