PURPOSE:To increase the proportion of magnetic powder contained in a magnetic recording layer and to improve electromagnetic characteristics by incorporating one or more kinds of compds. selected from a group including fatty acid esters synthesized from alcohol having a branched structure and fatty acid esters synthesized from fatty acid. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic recording layer comprising magnetic powder and abrasive powder dispersed in a binder is formed on a supporting body to constitute the magnetic recording medium. One or more kinds of compds. selected from the group of fatty acid esters synthesized from alcohol having a branched structure and fatty acid esters synthesized from fatty acid having a branched structure are incorporated into the magnetic medium. The fatty acid esters are butyl iso-stearate, isooctyl palmitate, etc. Thereby, the proportion of the magnetic powder contained in the magnetic recording layer can be increased and electromagnetic characteristics can be improved. |
