<p>A shielded electrical connector (30) for surface connection to a printed circuit board (35) comprises an electrically insulative body (32) supporting a plurality of electrical contacts (33, 34). Each contact (33, 34) includes a first portion (16, 17) for making contact with a complementary contact of a mateable connector when in use, and a second portion (38, 39; 40, 41) adapted to be connected to a surface of a printed circuit board (35). The connector (30) further includes electrically conductive shielding contact means (31) mounted on the body (32) for shielding or grounding the electrical contacts (33, 34). The shielding contact means (31) comprises a plurality of electrically connected shielding finger contacts (49) that are adapted to be connected to the printed circuit board surface. As such, when the connector (30) is mounted to the circuit board (35), the electrical contacts (33, 34) and the finger contacts (49) may be simultaneously connected to conductive pads on the printed circuit board by conventional reflow soldering techniques. <IMAGE></p> |
