<p>PURPOSE:To increase the operating frequency of a microprocessor while minimizing an increase in chip area by constituting the register file which has a register bank switching function by combining a RAM part of RAM cell constitution wit a latch part of latch cell constitution. CONSTITUTION:When a specifying means 16 which selects one of register sets alters the selected register set from a 1st register set to a 2nd register set, a transfer control means 17 transfers the data in a 2nd storage means 11 of the latch constitution which holds the data contents of one register set to the 1st register set in a 1st storage means 10 consisting of a RAM cell and holds the data contents of plural register sets and then transfers the data of the 2nd register set in the 1st storage means 10 to a 2nd storage means 11. Consequently, problems regarding the speed of register reading are eliminated and the latch constitution is introduced by only one bank to minimize the increase in the area.</p> |
