PURPOSE:To correct a camber and to reduce the generation of telescoping at the front and rear ends by detecting the camber at the front and rear ends of a steel strip and inclining a side guide inversely to the camber in accordance with a detected signal. CONSTITUTION:When the generation of a camber at the front end of the strip is detected by a strip width end detector 17 on the inlet sides of the side guides 10, the detected signal is inputted into a controller 19 and its angle is calculated. Then, a control signal of an amount of stroke, etc., necessary to incline a guide 15 inversely to the camber of the strip S is outputted from the controller 19 to each cylinder 16 of the side guides 10. Consequently, the tip part of the strip corrected in camber is sent to a pinch roll 13, taken up by a down coiler 12 and the generation of telescoping is prevented. The side guides 10 are controlled in the same way to the camber generated at the rear end of the strip S by inclining inversely to the camber; thus correcting the camber to prevent the generation of telescoping. |
