This invention refers to a passive switch with saturable dye incorporated in poly(methyl methacrylate) foil, for solid-state lasers. The invention is realized in a compact configuration of small size, assuring the operation of the laser in triggered mode at impulse powers of 2...4 MW. According to the invention, the losses by spreading out over the surface of the foil are eliminated by optical contact with a silicon oil film. This silicon oil film adapts the refractive indices of a plan-parallel support (2) and of the total reflexion mirror (3) from the laser cavity. In this way the necessity of separate alignment of parts of the switch is eliminated.<IMAGE>
