PURPOSE:To improve erosion resistance, heat shock resistance and wear resistance by forming a weir body with a sintered body composed of boron nitride, zirconium oxide, aluminum nitride and aluminum borate in a specific compounding ratio. CONSTITUTION:The weir material used for a strip continuous casting apparatus is constituted with the sintered body containing >=65wt.% boron nitride(BN), >=9% zirconium oxide(ZrO2), >=5% one or both of aluminum nitride(AlN) and aluminum borate (compound of Al2O3 and B2O3). By this method, manufacture of the weir material is facilitate and burden to the equipment can be reduced. The stable strip continuous casting can be stably executed without any trouble of breakout, etc., mingling foreign matter into molten metal caused by erosion and wear of the weir material and adverse effect to the cast strip. |
