The synthetic leather is produced by (a) treating a dividable conjugated fiber of polyamide and polyester with an oiling agent to obtain a tow, and then treating the tow with a thickening agent to obtain a staple fiber, (b) random-carding, cross-lapping and needle-punching the staple fiber to obtain a nonwooven fabric, (c) dipping the fabric into a ester-ether copolymer polyurethane soln. to obtain a leather-like sheet, (d) washing the sheet to remove the oiling agent and the thickening agent, (e) slicing and buffing the sheet, and (f) surface-treating it with a polyurethane. The leather is used in the mfr. of clothes and shoes.
