PURPOSE:To smoothly guide a catheter to a prescribed position free from obstruction without generating the buckling deformation during the introducing operation for the catheter by using a linear body made of elastic metal material, forming the top edge part to a tapered form, increasing softness towards the top edge and relatively providing rigidity to a basic edge part. CONSTITUTION:A guide wire core member is constituted of a linear body made of Fe group elastic metallic material, and at least the top edge part is effectively formed to a tapered form so that softness increases successively towards the top edge part. Though a metallic material having the large elasticity is used for a core member, it is particularly preferable to use Fe group superelastic metal material such as Fe-Pt group, Fe-Pd group alloy and Fe-Ni-Co-Ti group alloy. Such Fe group superelastic metal permits the easy working to a linear body and taper working. |
