Polyester e.g. fibres, foils, knitted or woven fabrics are printed with a paste comprising 400-800 g/kg agglutinating agent based on hydroxy-ethyl-starch. 30-10 g/kg polyethylene-glycol of 400-800 mol.wt. 100 g/kg max. glycerol, 100-200 g/kg sodium-silicate of 48 deg. Be. Without drying the initial print, fabrics are printed by a pigment paste contg. two dispn. colours, one of these being etch-resistant, and 300-700 g/kg alginate-based bonding agent; 100-300 g/kg citric acid soln. (1:2) and water. The print is dried, heat set, treated with an alkaline reducing agent and rinsed.
