The object of the invention is an arrangement to stop people falling when they move around on a ladder, which arrangement comprises a frame 1 designed to move along a rail 3 fixed to the ladder, a locking member 4 pivotally connected to the frame, a spring element 5 supported on the frame for pressing the locking member against the rail, and a moving element 6 fixed on the frame for moving the frame along the rail. Existing arrangements are troublesome to use and are complicated. In an arrangement according to the invention, the end of the locking member 4 which is pressed against the rail comprises two points 7, 8, the first of which - point 7 - is arranged to be moved towards the rail when the pull of the locking member has ceased and to stop the arrangement together with the part 9 located on the other side of the frame 1, while the second point 8 is then arranged to move towards the rail when the locking member is pulled down, and to fasten the arrangement to the rail when the rail is wedged between the frame and the points. <IMAGE>
