CONSTITUTION:When the earthquake motion arrives, a motion detecting device A measures the motion of the respective pendulums. At this time, the motion of the respective pendulums is transduced by a moving coil type seismoscope B into the electric signals which are proportional to the speeds of the pendulums. Then a storage device D is stored with only the maximum values of the respective pendulums, one after another, through an arithmetic processor C. At this point of time, the maximum values of the respective pendulums are equal to Sv values to the natural cycles that the pendulums have. Then an arithmetic processor E inputs and integrates the maximum values with the respective cycles to calculate the SI value. The SI values is displayed on a display device F and stored in a storage device G.</p>
