PURPOSE:To obtain an optical recording medium increased in erasing speed and keeping the signal quality of recording data well, in an indium-antimony phase change type rewritable optical disk, by specifying the composition ratio of antimony and adding a specific amount of vanadium oxide. CONSTITUTION:In an indium-antimony (In1-xSbx) phase change type rewritable optical disk, the composition ratio 'x' of antimony is set to 0.5 - 0.53 and vanadium oxide is added in an amount of 5 - 15 at%. When vanadium is added to InSb, the crystal restoration of InSb is accelerated and recording data can be erased by performing the irradiation with erasing laser twice and the C/N ratio at the time of the next writing becomes 42dB or more. Therefore, this optical recording medium is enhanced in its C/N ratio and erasing speed can be increased by reducing the number of times of erasing irradiation, that is, an erasing time. As a result, the capacity of the optical disk can be enhanced. |
