PURPOSE:To remove a malodor or harmful gas in air by connecting a DC high voltage power supply between the discharge electrode and opposed electrode of an ionizer and arranging the high voltage electrode of a dust collecting part in opposed relation to the discharge electrode of the ionizer. CONSTITUTION:A high frequency high voltage power supply 18 is connected between the linear corona discharge electrode 5 and planar induction electrode 6 of an ozonizer. A DC high voltage power supply 21 is connected between the discharge electrode 10a and opposed electrode 10b of an ionizer 10 not only to form a DC electric field but also to generate DC corona discharge from the discharge electrode 10a to the opposed electrode 10b. Contaminated air 2b containing a malodor or a harmful gaseous component is sent in this air purifier from the inlet 2a of an air passage 2 through a screen 3 and a part thereof is supplied to the ozonizer to form ozone gas which is, in turn, mixed with the contaminated air 2b to oxidize the harmful component to remove the same. By this constitution, the damage of a dust collecting part by a fire can be prevented. |
