Observation optics and background of eye - includes deflecting, imaging and focusing elements for detector receiving reflected light for evaluating and synchronising unit

Light from a source, e.g. laser, can be focused onto the section to be examined. A scanner moves the light beam over the section. An evaluating and synchronising unit generates an image of the background of the eye from the sequentially following output signals of the detector arrangement receiving the reflected light. Further imaging optical systems of different effects can be introduced into the beam path following the beam deflecting and imaging elements (5,6,7,8,9,10) at a defined distance from the eye (12) in order to vary the size of the observable section. The arrangement focussing the light beam on the background (R) of the eye is used to compensate for the optical effect of the applied optical system. ADVANTAGE - Allows size of observed section to be charged simply.
