Container for receiving laundry/items has (un)loading opening, a door, a guide fixed on the container for defining a path for the movement of the door, at least one guide body fastened on the door, a guide plane on which the guide body can rest and which defines the movement of the door along its plane and across the movement path, and a cylinder/piston unit which can be used as a power drive to slide the door. Part(s) of the unit tilts round a swivel point wrt the container on a plane parallel to the door. The guide body of the door is at a vertical distance (V) from the swivel point and the unit adjoins the door at a horizontal distance from the guide body. Wrt whether the vertical distance (v) is above or below the swivel -point, the guide plane supporting the guide body is turned away from the central door section or faces it. ADVANTAGE - Eliminates laundry items clamped by the door moving into the closing position from above. Injury to the operator is also minimised.
