USE:A medium for research such as peptide type environmental probes, molecular aggregates, various media and biomembranes, etc. PREPARATION:For example, the carboxyl group of the terminal leucine residues in 3-hydroxy-13-methyltetradecanoyl-L-glutamyl-L-leucyl-D-leucyl-L-valyl-L- aspartyl-D-leucyl-L-leucylpeptide and-3-hydroxyl group are subjected to cyclodehydration to provide surfactin composed of an amphiphatic cyclic peptide having a lactone structure, which is then dissolved in acetonitrile and reacted with 1-bromoacetylpyrene in the presence of diisopropylethylamine to afford a crude product. The resultant crude product is subsequently purified by silica gel column chromatography to afford surfactin pyrenacyl ester expressed by the formula.
