Combustion monitor for vehicle IC engine - detects ion current upon ignition of spark plug

The combustion monitor uses an ion current detector (20') for detecting the ion current generated upon ignition of the spark plug. The ion detector (20) uses a device which provides a voltage representing the ion current, fed to a comparator (27) for comparison with a variable threshold voltage which is adjusted in dependence on the engine operating parameters, to provide an output signal fed to an electronic ignition control (10'). Pref. the threshold voltage generator (30) is responsive to the engine revs and the engine load. USE - For ensuring optimum fuel combustion.
