A therapeutic coolant for the local treatment of burn is provided wherein said coolant consisting of squalene, squalane, or mixtures thereof. A method of treating burn is provided wherein said method comprising : applying a therapeutic coolant cooled to a temperature range from -10 to -60 DEG C, said coolant selected from the group consisting essentially of squalene, squalane, or mixtures thereof.
