PURPOSE:To obtain a sheet-like article having excellent heat resistance and chemical resistance by combining a sheet-like article consisting of a fiber having a recurring unit of paraphenylene sulfone with a binder having specific characteristics. CONSTITUTION:A binder unmelting or being >=300 deg.C in melting point and having heat resistance and chemical resistance, e.g. a resin consisting of polyparaphenylene sulfone expressed by the formula [X is 0-2 and the ratio of recurring unit in which X is 2 is >=70% (sulfonated ratio)] is applied to a fiber, e.g. nonwoven fabric (or woven fabric) consisting of polyparaphenylene sulfone expressed by the above-mentioned formula and the resin-coated fiber is thermally cured to provide the objective fiber sheet-like article having excellent heat resistance, and chemical resistance. Furthermore, when the binder is polyimide, the sheet-like article having extremely excellent heat resistance is obtained and when the binder is tetrafluoroethylene resin, the sheet-like article having excellent chemical resistance as well as excellent water repellency and oil repellency is obtained. |
