<p>PURPOSE:To industrially advantageously obtain the subject compound as an antitumor substance secreted from plant into a medium with a simple process in stably and continuously by culturing a plant such as genus Camptotheca plant producing camptothecin in a nourishing solution. CONSTITUTION:A species of plant selected from genus Camptotheca plant, genus Nothapodytes plant, genus Merrilliodendron plant, genus Ophiorrhiza plant and genus Ervatamia plant producing camptothecin is cultured in a nourishing solution by a well-known method such as sand cultivation, granule cultivation or rock wool cultivation, preferably at 10-40 deg.C and 1000-100000Lux illuminance, and a precursor of biosynthesis of camptothecin such as tryptophan, geraniol or glucose is given to the plant in an amount of 1muM-1mM to increase secreting amount of camptothecin into a medium, as necessary, then camptothecin as an antitumor substance secreted from said plant into the medium is recovered by using adsorbent such as a methacrylate resin, as necessary.</p> |
