PURPOSE:To improve the noise reduction effect and the reduction effect of the sense of incongruity and malfunction compatible in an excellent manner corresponding individually to the state of reception environment by using the fuzzy control to control the control state of each control circuit for the frequency characteristic and the muting. CONSTITUTION:A receiver detects each factor such as a reception electric field strength and multi-path quantity specifying the reception state and uses an input vector generating circuit 14 to generate an input vector composed of each factor. A fuzzy inference means 15 applies fuzzy inference based on the fuzzy production rule given by a membership function as the each factor of the input vector. A fuzzy control signal generating circuit 16 generates a fuzzy control signal based on an inference result F generated by the fuzzy inference means 15 so as to apply fuzzy control to control variables from any of a separation control circuit 11, a frequency characteristic control circuit 12 and a muting circuit 13 or their combination. A time constant, a control operation starting point and a control variable of each control circuit are selected as the control variables.
