PURPOSE:To automaticlly adjust the picture density without using any surface electrometer, by copying a reference density pattern containing density parts which correspond to the blank part and printed part of manuscripts on copying members to be used for detecting density. CONSTITUTION:An endless copying member 22 to be used for detecting density of picture is installed at the position where a photosensitive drum 1 transfers pictures, so that the copying member 22 is stretched between four drive rollers and moves along the direction A. Upon this copying member 22, an electrostatic latent image of a reference density pattern 21 formed on a photosensitive drum 1 is transferred by a transferring charger 16 after the latent image is appeared, and thus, a copied picture 21' of the reference density pattern 21 is formed. Moreover, when it is judged that the detcted density obtained by detecting the picture density of the copied picture 21' reaches a target value, the sequence control of the copying process is completed. Therefore, inconveniences accompanied with the surface electrometer are eliminated and copies of excellent picture quality can always be obtained. |
