PURPOSE:To prevent an image from being darkened even when the correction of light quantity exceeds the limit light quantity by adjusting the light quantity by the correction in accordance with surface potential when the correction of light quantity is equal to or below the light light quantity of an exposing optical system and adjusting golden image density when it exceeds the limit light quantity. CONSTITUTION:The detecting sensors 24-26 of this device detect an image patch consisting of the toner patches of yellow, magenta and cyanogen, which is formed in a transfer intermediate body, and a reference sensor 27 detects the toner patch of white. Based on the obtained detection signals, a CPU 21 calculates the surface potential of a photosensitive body and a light quantity correction voltage (VCL), which is compared with the limiter voltage (VCLMAX) of a regulator substrate 20. When the voltage VCL is equal to or below the voltage VCLMAX, the grid voltage of an electrostatic charger 7 is controlled in a specified manner. When the voltage VCL exceeds the voltage VCLMAX, all the colors are controlled based on the limiter voltage (VCLMEN) previously stored in a ROM 28 and the surface potential (VgMEM). |
