The bandsaw comprises a device (5) for adjusting the thickness of the part to be sawn mounted around the band (3) in order to be able to slide perpendicular to the table (1). This device (5) completely surrounds the band (3) in order to protect the user, its sliding being controlled by a lever (6) operated by the user, this sliding being guided by a column (7) perpendicular to the table (1) and parallel to the band (3), means being provided to maintain the adjustment and protection device (5) in a stable position in any position with respect to the table (1) determined by the lever (6) operated by the user. Use for improving the safety of bandsaws.
