PURPOSE:To prevent wasteful consumption of sheets by controlling a sheet feed so that the sheet is fed in a forward direction by a specified amount, if the open state of a cover is detected, and the sheet is fed in a backward direction by a feed amount, if the closed state of the cover is detected. CONSTITUTION:A detection sensor for an open or a closed state 55 operates following the operation of a cover 54 for a printing part 2 where a printing head 53 is provided, and thereby detects whether the cover 54 is open or closed. A control device of the forward feed of the sheet by a specified amount 21 controls so that it feeds the sheet AP in a forward direction by a specified feed amount LT, if the sensor 55 detects the open state of the cover 54. On the other hand, a control device for the backward feed of the sheet by a specified amount 22 controls so that it feeds the sheet PA in a backward direction by a specified feed amount LT, if the sensor 55 detects the closed state of the cover 54. Thus a drive source 52 feeds the sheet PA in a forward or a backward direction under the described control. |
