PURPOSE:To obtain the brick in which refractory aggregates are strongly bound together, having high strength and excellent in resistance to wear and corrosion by mixing a bonding powder obtained by adding Si powder to a mixture of silica powder and Al powder into a material for the brick, forming the mixture, nitriding and firing the formed body in an N2-contg. gas atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:A mixed powder contg. 20-70wt.% of silica powder such as quartz crystal powder and quartzite powder and 80-30 pts.wt. of atomized or scaly Al powder is prepared. Subsequently, 10-1000 parts of Si powder is added to 100 parts of the mixed powder and mixed to obtain a binding powder. A crystalline of amorphous Si powder having <=200 mesh size is effectively used as the Si powder. The mixed powder is then formed, and the formed body is nitrided and fired at 1200-1550 deg.C in an N2-contg. nonoxidizing gas atmosphere to obtain the desired plate brick for the slide gate having a beta'-Sialon bond. |
